Houston cop admits being part of Trump’s insurrection, resigns under fire.

Houston Police Officer Tam Pham participated in Trump’s siege of the United States Capitol building on January 6, 2021. He didn’t “merely” lend his support for the insurrection by attending Trump’s warm-up rally that day. He also allegedly broke into the Capitol building.

The 18-year veteran cop was caught on Facebook by a community member who complained to Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo. He was photographed carrying a Trump flag and apparently breaking into the Capitol.

Acevedo said he received a complaint Sunday from a community member [emphasis added by The Tumalo Lookout] and then saw Facebook photos of the officer at the Capitol building. He then contacted the FBI about the officer.

“He got into the Capitol,” Acevedo said. “I’m highly confident he will face federal charges.”

In an interview with the Houston Chronicle, Pham admitted he was at the rally, but he would neither confirm nor deny participating in the Capitol siege itself.

“I shouldn’t have done it…,” Pham told the Houston Chronicle. “I was there to take pictures.” “A lot of stuff happened that day,” Pham continued. “I wasn’t in the right mind.”

Pham’s disciplinary hearing was to have been held on Thursday, January 14. On the morning of his scheduled hearing, he tendered his resignation from Houston P.D. instead.

According to Houston Public Media, the Houston Police Officers’ Union declined to comment, but said they’d make a statement “soon.”

I look forward to learning whether Pham’s union will condemn him for his involvement in Trump’s insurrection or defend their fellow pig. My money’s always on the latter.
