Who’s lying now? The cops or the Repugnants?

From The New York Times, July 27, 2021:

FACT MYTHOLOGY
“I recognized the fact that there were individuals that were trying to grab ahold of my gun. I remember one of them distinctly lunging at me time and time again trying to grab my gun. And I heard people in the crowd yelling ‘get his gun,’ ‘kill him with his own gun’ and words to that effect.” — D.C. Metropolitan Police Officer Michael Fanone, July 27, 2021

“I was on the lower west terrace fighting alongside these officers, and all of them, all of them were telling us Trump sent us. Nobody else. It was nobody else. It was not antifa, it was not Black Lives Matter, it was not the F.B.I.; it was his supporters that he sent them over to the Capitol that day.” — U.S. Capitol Police Sgt. Aquilino Gonell, July 27, 2021

“I thought we’d have to fight our way out.” — Rep. Jason Crow, Democrat of Colorado and a former Army ranger in Iraq, who found himself captive in the House chamber, Jan. 6, 2021

“Supporters of the current president see Jan. 6, 2021, as the last opportunity to overturn the results of the presidential election.” — Capitol Police intelligence unit threat assessment, Jan. 3, 2021

“There was an attack carried out on Jan. 6, and a hit man sent them.” — Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn, July 27, 2021

“While Joe Biden is the legitimately elected president of the United States, a peaceful transfer of power didn’t happen this year.” — Rep. Bennie Thompson, Democrat of Mississippi, July 27, 2021

“We have not, to date, seen any evidence of anarchist violent extremists or people subscribing to antifa in connection with the 6th.” — Christopher Wray, F.B.I. director, March 2, 2021

“Even calling it an insurrection, it wasn’t. I condemned the breach, I condemned the violence, but to say there were thousands of armed insurrectionists breaching the Capitol intent on overthrowing the government is just simply a false narrative. … By and large it was peaceful protest except for, there were a number of people basically agitators that whipped the crowd and breached the Capitol.” — Senator Ron Johnson, Republican of Wisconsin, May 19, 2021

“Watching the TV footage of those who entered the Capitol and walked through Statuary Hall showed people in an orderly fashion staying between the stanchions and ropes taking videos and pictures. You know, if you didn’t know the TV footage was a video from January the 6th, you’d actually think it was a normal tourist visit.” — Rep. Andrew Clyde, Republican of Georgia, May 12, 2021

“The Capitol Police officer that did that shooting, Ashli Babbitt, appeared to be hiding, lying in wait.” — Rep. Paul Gosar, Republican of Arizona, June 15, 2021

“The Capitol attack was planned and organized, NOT incited in the moment by President Trump, and NO Republican Member was involved. We were ALL victims that day.” — Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Republican of Georgia, Feb. 9, 2021

“Crisis actor Fanone just beat on the table and said it’s ‘disgraceful!’ that any elected official denies his narrative of what happened on Jan. 6. Calls it an ‘insurrection.’ Blasting G.O.P. lawmakers. Now says this isn’t about politics, lol.” — Julie Kelly, “American Greatness,” July 27, 2021

“There was such love at that rally. You had over a million people there. They were there for one reason, the rigged election. They felt the election was rigged. That’s why they were there. And they were peaceful people. These were great people. The crowd was unbelievable. And I mentioned the word ‘love.’ The love — the love in the air, I have never seen anything like it.” — Former President Donald Trump, July 11, 2021

“No reasonable person thinks that what happened on Jan. 6 was, as Biden said, the worst attack on the Capitol since the Civil War. Come on, guys. Buffalo head guy was poised to take over the U.S. government? Are you kidding me? We’ve had many protests, many riots in American history. We had many last year that were far worse than this.” — Laura Ingraham, July 21, 2021

How can any good cop continue to support Trump after this?

The officers of the Capitol Police and DC Metro haven’t just been betrayed by Trump and his loyalists. They’ve been betrayed by their union colleagues, chiefs, and sheriffs all over America, who still refuse to admit they were wrong to support trump.
